Braai Cleaning

  1. Cleaning off build up on the braai from the weekend’s outdoor cook-off can be a grilling ordeal!
  2. So here’s are a couple braai cleaning tips and recipes to help make it a little less challenging:
  3. Recipe 1: Mix baking soda and water to make a paste, apply and leave overnight. Use a stiff brush the next morning and rinse well.
  4. Heat Method: Lay two long sheets of heavy duty aluminum foil on top of racks so they are completely covered, close lid (a couple inches of foil should be sticking out on all sides) and then out the heat on high for a maximum of 30 minutes. Open cover, allow to cool and remove foil. All the bits should fall off but if not, try tapping them with a heavy stick or lightly brushing.
  5. To prevent food from sticking to the grill when braaiing and help make the washing up a little easier you can try out this little tip:
  6. Rub the grill with olive oil or spray with non-stick cooking spray before setting food on it.  Be sure not to spray when the heat is on or you can apply oil to a paper towel and then rub on.
