Spring is here and its a great time to whip up some fruit salad for the kids. Pineapple is a wonderfully delicious and nutritious addition but if your kids dislike its hard centre then it can be a challenge to overcome their reluctance to eat it.
-
So here’s how you can chop a pineapple to avoid those yucky hard centres:
-
You will need:
-
A Pineapple, a big sharp knife and a cutting board.
-
First, get rid of the unwanted ends by laying the pineapple on its side and chop off the top and the bottom.
-
Then turn the pineapple onto one of the ends and quarter it.
-
Now remove the hard middle part by taking each quarter individually and, while still standing on one end, cut the corner (the middle) off at an angle. Try not to cut too much off. You can always trim extra if necessary.
-
Now cut away the spiky skin.
-
Finally half each of the quarters and, working with an eighth of the pineapple, dice as preferred. Repeat this with all the 8 sections.
-
There will be a lot of waste but it’s inevitable when cutting a pineapple, unfortunately.
-
Enjoy!

Thanks for the tip Etsy
