Save Tomato Paste

  1. Isn’t it peculiar how the amount of tomato paste that comes in a can is far greater than the small portion often required by the recipe. So you end up using just a tablespoon or two and the rest inevitably goes to waste. This will just not do!
  2. So here’s how to save the remaining unused tomato paste left over in the can:
  3. Carefully open both ends of the can with a can opener. Remove one metal end, and discard it. Leave the other in place.
  4. Wrap the entire can in plastic wrap, and freeze overnight.
  5. The next day, use the metal end to push the frozen paste out the open end. Discard the can and tightly rewrap unused portion. You can then store that in the freezer for up to 3 months just slicing off just as much as you need each time you cook.
  6. So convenient and thirty … now that’s more like it!
