Homemade Cold and Cough Syrup

  1. For those still struggling with that cough and cold here’s a homemade remedy for you to try out:
  2. Ingredients:
  3. 1/4 cup dried echinacea root
  4. 1/4 cup dried licorice root
  5. 1/8 – 1/4 cup freshly grated ginger root (to taste)
  6. Directions: 
  7. Grate Ginger.
  8. Add dried herbs, ginger, and 1 quart of water to pot. Simmer on low heat until liquid is reduced to 1 pint.
  9. Strain herbs.
  10. Add 1 cup of honey to liquid. Over low heat, warm just enough to mix well.
  11. Bottle, label, and refrigerate.
  12. Dosage:
  13. The syrup can be used as often as needed, up to every hour, until symptoms are relieved.
  14. Syrup will keep in refrigerator for approximately 3 months.
